What is a Prayer Shawl? Prayer shawls are traditional forms of praying for others in a tangible, physical way. Its one thing to say "I'm praying for you", but another to hand someone a physical object that constitutes an entire process of prayer! Usually prayer shawls are given to people who are in a time of suffering and need. They can go to people you know or total strangers. After it is made, it is brought to the church sanctuary to be prayed on and blessed by the congregation. This act connects our congregation to the person the shawl is made for. People can say prayers individually during fellowship by tying knots in certain ones.
How can you help, you ask? If you can crochet, knit or sew you can participate by making a shawl for someone on our list. If you can’t do any of the above you can donate supplies or cash toward the supplies so that someone else can make the shawl. If you don’t know how to crochet, knit or sew, we will teach you. If you would like to participate, please come to the church on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays at 1pm! Please call the church office 253-6295 for more information.
We would love to have you join us!
